Recovery Walks! 2017
On Saturday, September 23, Recovery was alive and well in Philadelphia. The sun was shining brightly as individuals, families, local and state Legislators and government leaders, and multiple treatment providers arrived at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia to celebrate and show their support for Recovery. The 27,000 Walkers were led by the Honor Guard, comprised of 342 individuals representing over 6000 years of Recovery. Every year, the participation in Recovery Walks! Increases. Reducing the stigma of addiction is achieved through education, advocacy and presenting evidence that Recovery is Possible. Some highlights from the Advocacy Village include registering 35 new voters, providing education and support for tobacco cessation, pain management and stress reduction, and information for Veterans.
The commitment and hard work of over 400 volunteers from PRO-ACT and other organizations is evident in all aspects of the event. We are grateful for the 39 financial sponsors and over 50 supporting organizations that helped make the Walk a success again this year. Thank you to all who organized, attended, and supported Recovery Walks! 2017.
