New Resources to Connect Teens to the Facts About Drugs and Health

Throughout the years, with your help, NIDA for Teens has encouraged teens to consider the impact that drugs and alcohol have on their developing brains and to make informed decisions about substance use. These efforts are especially important as we work to support teens during these unprecedented, challenging times.

Check out the NIDA for Teens Pinterest board on the NIH Pinterest account. The pins on the board, Teach Teens about Drugs and the Brain can help you locate additional resources to encourage teens to learn the facts about drugs and addiction.

Dr. Art Kleinschmidt served as Senior Advisor on Substance Abuse to the Assistant Secretary for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). As a person in long-term recovery, Dr. Kleinschmidt came to this position with vast real-world experience and education in the field of addiction treatment.

Dr. Kleinschmidt has been immersed in the recovery community and possesses a vast array clinical experience working with a multitude of clients, including gang affiliated incarcerated adolescents in Minneapolis. 
While at SAMHSA Dr. Kleinschmidt was involved on expert panels and policy discussions regarding patient brokering and the opioid crisis in rural America.
