PRTC has Moved!
Effective June 1, 2019, PRO-ACT's Philadelphia Recovery Training Center has moved to the complex at 1701 W. Lehigh Avenue where the Recovery Community Center is located. Locating both programs in the same complex will provide PRO-ACT with opportunities expand on services offered in the recovery community, to work more collaboratively with our program partners, to be good stewards of available resources, and continue to provide Recovery Support Services that are responsive to community need.

Communities Coming Together

The Resilience Project is calling everyone to come out Saturday June 15th from 9am-12pm for the Kensington Community Cleanup. Location TBD: Contact Marie Widmeier HERE for more details. PRO-ACT's Amends in Action Committee will be participating, along with many other PRO-ACT Volunteers!

PRO-ACT's Recovery Walks! will be here before you know it! Register as a Walker, start a Team, or join an existing Team HERE.

*It is recommended that the leader of each team attend a Team Captain Training.

UPDATES for Individuals, Teams, Volunteers and Committees:

We are in full swing preparing to make PRO-ACT's 2019 Recovery Walks a bigger success than last year. If you are interested in organizing a Team for the Walk, come join us at a Team Captain Training and learn successful tips on team organization, leadership, fundraising and more! The first Team Captain Training will be held at the Philadelphia Recovery Community Center (1701 W. Lehigh Ave.) on Monday, June 24 at 5:30 p.m. Food will be served! Please contact Marie Widmeier HERE if you have any questions.

Recovery Walks! Volunteer Committees have started forming. Whether you have volunteered in the past, or are new to volunteering with PRO-ACT, joining a Recovery Walks! Committee is a must! There are many different Committees you can join. Contact Michelle Leister HERE or Marie Widmeier HERE if you are interested. We will have our first Committees Meeting and Sign-up on Monday, July 8th at 5:30 p.m. at the PRCC. Food will be provided.
PRO-ACT offers GED Assessment and Tutoring - Meet with our long-time Volunteer, Johnnie Young on Tuesdays 1 pm - 4 p.m., or Brad Meck and Chris Hopson on Saturdays 1 p.m.- 3:30 pm.

Did you know that PRO-ACT has joined with Philadelphia Police for the Police Assisted Diversion Program (PAD)? The program offers individuals who have been arrested for low-level drug offenses an opportunity to be diverted from the criminal justice system into behavioral, social and recovery supports services, as an alternative to arrest. Click HERE for more informationEspanol AQUI

Don't miss the fun on the last Friday of the month with Salsa Night! Come out for a home-cooked meal served by members of our Latino Committee and dance the night away! Last Friday of each month 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.

PEER FORCE

PEER FORCE is a team of Volunteers who provide education and resources, short term mentoring, and linkage to appropriate services when requested. Members began their outreach at a canvassing event on May 17th in Center City. We reached out and educated people in Love Park, Suburban Station Corridors, underground and above ground in the area!

A big shout out to those who helped make the event a success! Thank you for engaging those in need!
North Philly Town Hall on Hepatitis C & related issues:

HepCAP, Philly's citywide coalition dedicated to improving the continuum of hepatitis C prevention, diagnosis, care and support services, is holding their third regional town hall at PRCC on Thursday, June 20th at 6 p.m. Dinner will be provided!

All passionate providers, activists outreach workers, local politicians and community members who are interested in working together to save lives, reduce harm and improve health services are invited!

Overdose Prevention and Narcan Training at PRCC on Saturday June 15th at 10 a.m.

Narcan is a medication used to temporarily block the effects of opioids, specifically in the event of an overdose. In this free training, attendees will learn:
  • Harm-reduction approaches to high-risk behaviors, and substance misuse
  • Protocols for effectively administering Naloxone (Narcan), the life-saving medication developed to help prevent fatal opioid overdoses
  • The Good Samaritan Act 139 and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Standing Order for Naloxone (Narcan)
