Jesus Christ is the Truth the Life the Way !
Marcos has experienced rock bottom. He was a resident of Holiday, a vertical slum in the middle of a wealthy neighborhood in Recife. Here he encountered drugs and what eventually brought further destruction in his life: alcohol. When we met, Marcos lived at the corner of the building in the middle of dirt, animals and trash, without any contact with his daughter. Through our various encounters, he eventually wanted to make a step towards changing his life. We facilitated his entrance into a treatment facility, where he spent 9 months. Wow, what a difference those months made in his life. Since then, we have seen the God of restoration at work as the Lord has created a way for Marcos to continue a relationship with his daughter. Today, after two years in the Lord's process, we witness his steady growth in the Lord, his beautiful relationship with His daughter, his ability to keep a steady job and his eager heart to help those who are currently living as he did. Recently, he was also invited to share his life journey on a local radio station, where he shared about all that God has done in his life. His story is proof that God makes everything new!
Many of those we serve lived in the Holiday building, a vertical slum. However, all residents were evicted and sent away, many moved into other local slums. It was a great injustice as those with money demonstrated what can be done to those without as there was no regard for residents' legal purchases of the property. We are seeking God's justice and direction. However, we also know that this ministry was never about the building but about the people. So we continue to disciple and seek God's will in their lives.
