Still trying to do it your way! Your courage and persistence should be commended and there is a right way and a wrong way of doing things. Shaking the habit of self medicating is and will be one of the most difficult life challenges a person will have to face. What makes it more difficult is your physical self battling Spiritual self! You heard me their is an inner man your Spirit and he knows the right way to do life.The outward man the physical is ruled by the desire of lust of pleasure at all costs. Including the loss of successful self of Gods designed Inner man. God knows best for you but you have to recognize your inability to continue living life the way you have been living it.Listen to the inner man the one who owns the positive voice inside that sends thoughts of peace, joy ,hope,wisdom and the right choice on which way to go. He is directing your steps to God your father in heaven. Admit defeat surrender to God and listen to the inner man your Spirit and try doing it Gods way. The last verse says it all !

2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.
