On February 22, Metro Drug Coalition will be hosting an SBIRT Training. This training will equip providers, nurse practitioners, nurses, residents and office managers to: understand the disease process of addiction, recognize the risk factors and causes of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, understand the process of SBIRT (an evidence-based screening tool) to assess risk for substance abuse in patients, and learn ways to implement and administer brief interventions. Youth Metro Drug Coalition consists of sophomore, junior and senior high school students across Knox County high schools who have a personal connection to addiction or a passion for substance abuse prevention.
