Apply Today for the William White Scholarship
|
Are you a student looking for ways to gain recognition in your field and ease your tuition burden?
The William White Student Scholarship was created to promote student addiction studies research and develop the importance of student research projects in NASAC accredited programs, NAADAC approved programs in higher education, or an accredited addiction studies higher education program acknowledged by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) that provides research or education to the addiction profession.
Submission deadline: May 31, 2019.
The William White Student Scholarship will be awarded to one graduate NAADAC student member and one undergraduate NAADAC student member based on addiction research papers focusing on the assigned topics outlined on naadac.org/white-scholarship and applied directly to the students' educational debt.
Scholarship Benefits
- One undergraduate student will receive $1,000.
- One graduate student will receive $2,000.
- Scholarship monies will be submitted in the students’ names to their educational debtor.
- Recipients will be recognized at the 2019 NAADAC Annual Conference in Orlando, FL and in the Fall 2019 issue of Advances in Addiction & Recovery magazine.
- Winning research papers will be shared online.

National Prevention Week Starts Next Week!
|
National Prevention Week (NPW) is next week from May 12-18, 2019! NPW is an annual health observance dedicated to increasing public awareness of, and action around, mental health and/or substance use disorders.
Each year, NPW includes daily themes to focus on major substance use and mental health topics. The 2019 daily themes are:
- Monday, May 13: Preventing Prescription and Opioid Drug Misuse
- Tuesday, May 14: Preventing Underage Drinking and Alcohol Misuse
- Wednesday, May 15: Preventing Illicit Drug Use and Youth Marijuana Use
- Thursday, May 16: Preventing Youth Tobacco Use
- Friday, May 17: Preventing Suicide

Last Chance to Apply for a Northwest Regional Conference Scholarship

There are only two days left to apply for a scholarship for the 2019 Northwest Regional Conference: Embracing the Future!
Thanks to the generous support of our partners, as well as the NAADAC Education and Research Foundation (NERF), NAADAC is able to provide a limited number of conference scholarships to cover full or partial registration fees for those who might not otherwise be able to attend our 2019 Northwest Regional Conference:Embracing the Future from June 13 - June 15, 2019 at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront in Portland OR.
The conference will feature three intensive days of training sessions with celebrated national trainers such as David Dickinson, MA, Carlo DiClemente, PhD, Cynthia Moreno Tuohy, BSW, NCAC II, CDC III, SAP, Malcolm Horn, LCSW, MAC, SAP, and K. Michelle Peavy, PhD. Topics include clinical supervision, clinical skills, co-occurring disorders, and practice management.
All scholarship awardees are required to pay for any other fees and all travel and lodging expenses. To apply for a conference scholarship, please submit an application by Friday, May 10, 2019. Scholarship awardees will be notified by May 16, 2019.
