Another child lost to suicide

This story, while it breaks my heart, is far too common. I can personally name other children and families who have a similar story. My list is getting longer each day.
I have been saying we need a treatment centre for children/teens with mental health challenges in Canada for now 8 years. Not one exists - there are plenty of amazing ones in the United States but not ONE in Canada!
There are inpatient facilities in Canada if your child/teen has an eating disorder or an addiction but not mental health struggles.
And as Daphne says, our system is flawed, extremely hard to navigate, and in the end the child/teen/young adult is left with the belief that "I am not treatable and I have lost hope".
We need for all of us to work together in getting this message out that we need to build this facility. I want it here in our province. Not in another province. I will settle for one in Canada.
My dream/vision is that this treatment facility treats not only the child who is struggling but the entire family. A child's mental health and the parent's mental health is a parallel process and only when all parts of the family's mental health is supported can wellness start to happen.
And of course my vision includes peer support
