New Legislation Will Help Families
We know that when families are involved, informed and supported, the outcomes for those with addiction are better. The bipartisan Family Support Services for Addiction Act introduced in January promises to create a much-needed grant program for community organizations and other nonprofits to provide family support services.
Help us move this important legislation forward. Urge your Members of Congress to cosponsor H.R. 5572 in the House and S. 3179 in the Senate now.

Partnership for Drug-Free Kids + Center on Addiction Attend Conferences
In February, we attended the 19th Annual National Leadership Forum in Washington, DC, hosted by the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA). This event brings together adults and youth from around the globe to discuss the latest strategies to prevent substance use and addiction. We were grateful for the opportunity to hear from Dr. Nora Volkow, Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse and Jim Carroll, Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. We enjoyed connecting with many of our partners and sharing our free resources for parents. Next month, we look forward to exhibiting at the Rx Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit in Nashville, TN! If you’re planning to attend, please visit us at booth #502!

Plan a Local Event for National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism invites prevention and youth-serving organizations to participate in its National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week, March 30-April 5, 2020. This week-long observance is an opportunity for teens to learn the facts about drugs, alcohol and addiction from scientists and other experts. Organize and promote your own local youth event during the week, and help shatter the myths about drugs and alcohol!
