MDC's Response to COVID-19

Good morning,

As a primary substance abuse prevention organization, Metro Drug Coalition is committed to improving the health of our community. There is no greater time to focus on prevention than now! COVID-19 has reinforced the importance of preventing disease transmission through basic hygiene practices and protecting our community’s most vulnerable citizens.

MDC has been doing our part by limiting all gatherings, meetings and trainings and utilizing technology versus face to face contact. While many gatherings have been postponed or conducted virtually, we are assisting our first responders in public health. The Knox County Health Department and MDC have walked side by side with the planning and launching of the All4Knox Initiative. Through this continued partnership, Deborah Crouse, MDC’s Media Relations and Project Director, has been asked to assist with the Knox County COVID-19 Joint Information Center to provide additional support to the health department. I am also serving on a social services committee of nonprofits who are looking at creative ways to provide basic needs to those in our community who will need them most. Our staff is ready to assist where this community needs us most.

MDC is confident that if we practice good hygiene and social distancing recommendations, we can get through this period with little infection and reduce the risk to those who are most vulnerable of suffering life-threatening complications.

Below, you'll find some resources that can help during this time of social distancing and quarantining during COVID-19. Please click on the images below that will direct you to MDC's website for more information. If you are in need of any assistance from us during this time, please don't hesitate to visit the staff page on our website to connect with us via email here.

Thank you,
Karen Pershing
MDC's Executive Director
