NAADAC Congratulates Dr. Jack Stein on his Appointment as New NIDA Chief of Staff
|
NAADAC is pleased to congratulate Dr. Jack Stein on his appointment as National Institute on Drug Abuse's (NIDA) Chief of Staff. This is a newly created position to support and assist the Director of NIDA with coordination and strategic planning of key institute initiatives.
Dr. Stein has been a great friend to NAADAC over the years. He has been a featured presenter at many NAADAC conferences and contributes to NAADAC’s magazine, Advances in Addiction & Recovery, with a quarterly column that addresses addiction treatment trends and news.
As Chief of Staff, Dr. Stein will focus on NIDA’s top priorities, including coordination of the NIH HEAL (Helping to End Addiction Long-term) initiative, a series of robust scientific prevention and treatment research projects to help curb the opioid crisis in the United States.

Substance Use Prevention: A Resource Guide for School Staff
|
On Friday, March 22, the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) released the Substance Use Prevention: A Resource Guide for School Staff. The resource guide provides an overview of federal resources that educators can use to identify and address student drug use, develop lesson plans on the current addiction crisis, and connect students to resources that can reduce risky behavior.
This guide is a combined effort of ONDCP, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), and the U.S. Department of Education and presents teachers, principals, and other school staff with a comprehensive approach to reducing drug use.
