Tell Congress: Oppose ONDCP Budget Cuts
According to the recent budget proposal for 2020 funding, the White House is looking to cut critical support for the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) for a 2nd year in a row. ONDCP provides the country with essential programs and critical coordination of the federal response to the drug issue. With nearly 200 drug overdose deaths each day, these resources are needed now more than ever.
Moving the Drug-Free Communities and High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) programs out of ONDCP would reduce their effectiveness, visibility and impact. The President's budget proposes transferring these programs out of ONDCP to SAMHSA and DEA without giving their new agencies adequate funding to administer them.
