NADP
NAADAC’s National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NCC AP) will now provide psychologists with a nationally recognized credential.

Effective February 2018, the American Psychological Association Practice Organization (APAPO) College of Professional Psychology’s Certificate of Proficiency in the Treatment of Alcohol and Other Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders has transitioned to the NCC AP Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) national credential.

The MAC credential is an interdisciplinary, well-respected, and reimbursable national credential that reflects the highest standards for substance use disorder and addiction professionals. The certificate of proficiency offered by APAPO will sunset after the existing certificate cycle expires. Since the program’s inception in 1996, the APAPO College of Professional Psychology has issued 2,627 certificates of proficiency to licensed psychologists across the United States, US territories, and Canada.

The transfer of the certificate of proficiency from the APAPO to the NCC AP MAC credential promises new opportunities for psychologists and reflects a commitment of the highest ethical standards for substance use disorder and addiction professionals.
