💫 The Stigma of Addiction is Alive and Well

Many people are stuck on the notion that the addict has a moral or spiritual failing when there are also other factors at play. When the word addict is brought up there are those who will use words or phrases such as worthless, lazy, lack of willpower or initiative to “get better."

These connotations are shaped in large part by popular culture. We often don’t see addiction with transformative outcomes—instead the spotlight is focused on the seedy, the unflattering and the graphic.

The recovery movement has shifted within the past 10 years, though, there's still much work to still be done.

This week I asked you if you've been affected by the stigma of addiction and what we as a community can do to combat it.

Add your answer, here.

🔔 How Self-Deprecation Serves Us

Self-depreciation isn’t just telling ourselves we’re at fault. It’s also undermining our own authority, silencing ourselves in favor of others, and tormenting ourselves over mistakes that don’t matter.
However, there’s a point when we gain secondary gains from self-deprecation and they begin to serve us.

Check out this week's Recovery Coaching call for the whole discussion, here.

🎂 The Birthday Party Meeting

✅ Coming to Believe

The pains of this world, broken relationships, and navigating life can be overwhelming - even when we're sober.

Imagine your life with more purpose and deeper meaning all because you took time to get to know a Higher Power, and yourself. What would that feel like?
