Donations Doubled to Meet the COVID-19 Need!

Dear Joseph,

Just three more days to have your gift matched! As we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, we find ourselves encountering increased need. Typically, it costs only $24.50 to provide one day of care at the Mission for a person experiencing homelessness including 3 meals and a night of shelter. This includes laundry, cleaning, utilities, food, and staff support. This low cost is made possible through the 400 individuals who volunteer at the Mission each month and donated food from restaurants and universities.
This rise in cost is due to the need to suspend all volunteer activities and contact with outside individuals. With this, we have also seen a drastic reduction in donated food. Without volunteers, the Mission is seeing staff costs rise too. Our costs to clean, sanitize, and keep the Mission safe for our guests are also increasing because we have increased our cleaning frequency to keep our guests safe and well.

The Mission is committed to serving our homeless guests with 21st Century, 5-Star care. This means that our response to this pandemic requires innovation, collaboration, and partnership. We are seeking ways to adjust our service model, sources of support, and partnership to provide the highest quality care possible to every person who comes to the Mission in need.

Through the generosity of two donors, all donations made May 5th through the 10th will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000! Your gifts, combined with these matching funds will help us cover additional costs and continue to maintain our level of service during this crisis.

Your prayers and your financial support will allow us to continue meeting the needs of those most vulnerable here in Philly.

Yours in Christ's Service,

Jeremy Montgomery
