We're Moving!

Did you know that WFS has operated from the same location for over 35 years? Many of our avid readers will recall Dr. Kirkpatrick writing excitedly about the great deal she got on a storefront space in downtown Quakertown in 1983, and we have been here ever since.

Unfortunately, the building was sold four years ago and the new owner has failed to maintain the property. Repeated water penetration via the foundation has progressively grown worse over the last 4 years, resulting in mold growth, poor air quality, and frequent clean-up of flooding. Rather than complete the necessary repairs, the landlord has chosen to release WFS from our lease.

Women for Sobriety will therefore be relocating by the end of September 2019. We are saddened to lose this link to our past, but happy for the opportunity to provide a safe environment for staff and volunteers. Please join us on the new WFS Online Communityas we share memories of the office and process our emotions about this upcoming change.

Due to outsourcing of literature production, we will be able to downsize our space considerably. This means that much of the furniture, including Jean's beloved tanker desk and chair, are seeking a new home. While the condition of these items is well-worn, they are also well-loved. If you wish to preserve a piece of WFS history and can arrange for pickup/shipping of the items, please contact WFS President/CEO Adrienne Miller at admin@womenforsobriety.org as soon as possible.

While a new location has not yet been finalized, WFS does plan on maintaining the same phone number, P.O. Box mailing address, email addresses, and website to provide continuity of services.

Welcome Suz!
We are enthusiastic to announce our new part-time Administrative Assistant III, Suz Croutwater! Suz will be telecommuting from her home in Cincinnati, OH. She is a "retired" IT professional who recently completed a Masters of Public Administration degree with a concentration in nonprofit management at Northern Kentucky University. She enjoys riding her horse, gardening, and hiking in her spare time. Suz began her journey as a 4C women with Nancy Cross (fourCwoman), beloved founder of the WFS Online Community, in the Cincinnati face-to-face group. Please join us in welcoming Suz to the WFS team!

Financial Update
WFS is proud to share that the mid-year numbers are looking good great! Second quarter fundraising campaigns were up by 65% over 2018, raising over $40,000! Big thanks to our campaign coordinators BunnyH, for her work on the Teddy Bear Challenge, and Ekimling, for her work on the Silent Auction. Mid-year income was up by around 20% overall, thanks not only to contributions but also an increase in bookstore sales and conference registrations.

Thank you to all of our generous donors who contribute to the financial well-being of our life-saving organization!

Hello Happiness!
I am a sober woman and I am happy! There was a time in the not too distant past when I believed those two words – sober and happy – were mutually exclusive...
Why I Choose Hard
...For now I am staying the course, even though it’s hard and it sometimes hurts, and it can feel scary. I choose my hard because there is light and life ahead of me.
