September Is Recovery Month!
|
Every September, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) sponsors Recovery Month to increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use disorders and celebrate the people who recover. This year's theme is Join the Voices for Recovery: Invest in Health, Home, Purpose, and Community.
All month, SAMHSA will explore how integrated care, a strong community, sense of purpose, and leadership contribute to effective treatments that sustain the recovery of persons with mental and substance use disorders. The observance will work to highlight inspiring stories to help people from all walks of life find the path to hope, health, and wellness.
In the spirit of community, SAMHSA invites you to learn more about recovery activities in your area by participating in events near you, or help bring your community together by hosting an event and posting in on the SAMHSA website! National Recovery Month events are taking place across the country - find an event near you, or find out how to plan an event in your community!
