2018 Annual Conference: Call for Poster Presentations
|
NAADAC members and non-members are invited to submit poster presentation proposals for display at the 2018 Annual Conference. NAADAC encourages young investigators, researchers, and addiction professionals from diverse organizations and fields to submit.
The 2018 Annual Conference will be held at the Westin Galleria Houstonfrom October 5-9, 2018. Posters will be on display during Saturday, October 6th and Sunday, October 7th with presentations taking place on October 6th.
Submission Deadline: Friday, June 1, 2018

Join presenters Michael Weaver, MD, FASAM, DABAM and Don Hall, LCDC, for this free NAADAC webinar and learn about the different types of medication-assisted treatments (MAT) for alcohol, nicotine, and opioids and the respective roles of the doctor, medical staff, and substance use disorder counselor. The presenters will discuss how the doctor identifies clients that would benefit from MAT, as well as the information that the counselor needs to have available to engage the client, help to develop compliance with the regimen, and how to prepare the client for eventual withdrawal from the long-term maintenance medications, or for ongoing maintenance.

Accepting Student Submissions for the William White Scholarship

The William White Student Scholarship, created to promote student addiction studies research, will be awarded to one graduate NAADAC student member and one undergraduate NAADAC student member with the best student addiction research papers on one of the four topics for 2018.

NCTTP Test-Exemption Eligibility Period Extended to May 15, 2018
|
NAADAC, in partnership with the Association for Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence, Inc. (ATTUD), and the Council for Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (CTTTP) offers the National Certificate in Tobacco Treatment Practice (NCTTP).
The NCTTP was created to standardize and unify tobacco competencies, knowledge, and skills on a national level and provides national, unified recognition of professionals who obtain this prestigious certificate. By obtaining the NCTTP, tobacco treatment professionals are demonstrating to employers, third-party payers, and clients their advanced education in evidence-based tobacco competencies, skills, and practice.
To apply for the certificate, candidates must provide evidence of specific education and experience, including successful completion of a CTTTP-accredited Tobacco Treatment Specialist training program and hours of tobacco treatment practice experience following completion of the training. In addition, candidates must be tobacco-free for a minimum of six months and must agree to adhere to the Tobacco Treatment Provider Code of Ethics. A full list of specific eligibility and application requirements can be found on the NCTTP web page.
The NCTTP test-exemption offer has been extended until May 15, 2018. Applications postmarked after May 15, 2018 will require successful completion of an examination to be awarded the certificate.
