Dear Joseph,
Our nation is facing a crisis. We are losing 174 individuals a day to overdose, with 115 to opioid overdose alone. As the opioid epidemic continues to ravage communities and destroy lives, more and more families are turning to the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids for help.
Our work is not possible without everyone at the table and so we are proud to have Google as one of our invaluable stakeholders. We are excited to share with you two very important ways Google is supporting us to reach and serve even more families.
The 15th annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is this
Saturday, April 28, and we are proud to partner with Google and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to make it easy for people to find nearby Take Back events using Google Maps technology. When you visit
Google.com, today you will see language that directs you to a link where you can find a Take Back location near you, learn more about safe disposal and access our science-based resources on how to get help for a loved one who may be struggling with addiction.
We encourage you and your family to participate and take a simple, effective step to help curb the country’s crisis by disposing of excess, unwanted and expired prescription medicine.
Google’s support of families doesn’t end with Take Back Day. We are also pleased to announce our
Google Matching Gifts Challenge kicking off today. Google understands the value and the impact of the critical resources we offer at the Partnership to families, and starting today until
June 9, Google will match every donation made to the Partnership, dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $250,000. That means your $25 gift becomes $50! This match will help us ensure that our Parent Helpline and other free services can operate at capacity. Please help us to bring every resource to bear to empower the families and caregivers of young people with substance use disorders.
I hope we can count on you to join us by participating in National Take Back Day and
making your donation today so parents don’t have to face their greatest fears alone.
Sincerely,
Fred Muench
