Worthwhile Wear exists to end modern-day slavery, which includes sex and labor trafficking. We launched our first program in India in 2012 when we partnered with local organizations to offer vocational training to survivors of sex trafficking.
But before too long, we discovered that human trafficking, or forced prostitution, is a local problem too. Our challenge was discovering what unmet needs existed and deciding how we could have an impact. We soon learned that one of the greatest needs was long-term residential housing and trauma therapy for women escaping from human trafficking.
In response, we opened The Well, a safe home for survivors, along with its companion Education and Counseling Center. Women over age 18 can live at The Well for up to two years and receive services such as in-depth trauma counseling, education, vocational training, and art therapy. Volunteers and donors provide the resources required to run The Well, while ourthrift storesupplies job training and sustainable income.
Expand the Worth It program in surrounding counties so more sexually exploited women can experience the counseling, support, and community resources to maximize readiness and support for changing behaviors and lifestyle.
Expand our educational and therapeutic classes to help survivors understand healthy boundaries, life skills, finances, health, wellness, and creative expression.
Complete construction on a workshop for auto maintenance and mechanical training at The Well.
Produce high-quality t-shirts to create sustainable income for our programs and employment in India.
