2020 Minority Fellowship for Addiction Counselors – Now Accepting Applications
|
The NBCC Foundation and NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, are pleased to announce the 2020 application period for the National Board for Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Program for Addictions Counselors (NBCC MFP-AC).
This program is made possible by a grant awarded to the NBCC Foundation in collaboration with NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The program will administer up to 40 master’s degree-level counseling fellowships of $15,000 for addictions counseling students, plus the travel expenses to participate in other program-related trainings.
Deadline: December 15, 2019

Romancing the Brain skills are an intensive set of pscyho-emotional-social-spiritual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) treatments that, if followed, will result in brain pathway and lifestyle changes for addiction.

Upcoming New NAADAC Specialty Online Training Series: Clinical Supervision in the Addiction Profession
|
Clinical supervision is a mutual endeavor enhanced by a trusting-bidirectional relationship that leads to professional development and enhanced client care through mentoring, guidance, and clinical oversight (Durham, 2019).
With the goal of maintaining clinical efficiency, adherence to ethical guidelines, and protection of those most vulnerable, NAADAC presents our newest specialty online training series Clinical Supervision in the Addiction Profession.
This six-part webinar series will provide critical training on current trends and research, technology-based and evidence-based practices, and the overall structure of effective clinical supervision. In addition, this series will support NAADAC’s new Clinical Supervision: An Overview of Functions, Processes, and Methodology manual. Those who successfully attend the full webinar series and pass all six CE quizzes for this six-part series will be eligible to apply for the Certificate of Achievement for Clinical Supervision in the Addiction Profession. Each webinar in the series is worth 1.5 CEs and costs $25 each.
The first webinar, The Supervisory Relationship, will take place on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 12:00pm - 1:00pm EST. Presenter Thomas Durham, PhD, will provide instruction on how the supervisory alliance impacts the therapeutic alliance. Participants will learn how to view the supervisory relationship as a multi-person system to provider empowerment and growth for their supervisees.

October Telebehavioral Health Institute (TBHI) Video on Key Ethical Issues to Consider
|
|
NAADAC is excited to present the seventh monthly video in partnership with Telebehavioral Health Institute (TBHI) to bring telehealth tips to addiction professionals. This FREE three-minute video will review key ethical issues to consider related to telebehavioral health.
TBHI is an institute devoted to training and consultation with professionals seeking to develop the legal, ethical, and clinical competencies related to working with technology in behavioral health.
NAADAC members will get $10 off TBHI webinars (1 CE each) and a 20% discount on telehealth training and certification packages to help them expand into telehealth in an informed, ethical, and legal way.
The TBHI Level I Professional Training Certification Package contains four courses worth 15 CEs and gives members six months of access to all training materials. The TBHI Level II Professional Training Certification Package contains nine courses worth 36 CEs and gives members twelve months of access to all training materials as well as twelve-monthly Q&A group consultations, both live and recorded.
