Upcoming Events at MDC

Med Collection Event: October 19
Rise Together Community Seminar
October 24
Please join Metro Drug Coalition as we bring in a nationally recognized education program Rise Together on October 24 to help address the issues our youth are facing today.

Rise Together has ignited a youth-led movement that is helping save lives. They primarily educate youth between the ages of 10-18 years old and work with Middle Schools, High Schools, Colleges, and other public settings with a purpose to help youth rise and overcome the challenges that they face. They believe that the future is youth and have a vision to create a community where youth can be loved, heard, and inspired to live in hope.

Today, addiction impacts more than 40 million Americans. 90% of those who struggle with addiction start before the age of 18 and suicide is the leading cause of death amongst teens.

This event is free and open to the public. Parents, we encourage you to bring your children to this event. Light refreshments will be provided. The event will be at the Knox County Health Department (140 Dameron Ave.) and parking is located in the KCHD lot. The event is in the auditorium on the basement level.

For more information about Rise Together, visit www.weallrisetogether.org. For questions regarding the event,
please contact Sarah Sandlin or call 865-588-5550.
SBIRT Training: October 25
This training will equip providers, nurse practitioners, nurses, residents and office managers to: understand the disease process of addiction, recognize the risk factors and causes of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, understand the process of SBIRT (an evidence-based screening tool) to assess risk for substance abuse in patients, and learn ways to implement and administer brief interventions.

Pre-registration is required for all participants to ensure an accurate number for lunch. There is a $20 fee to attend.
