Step 5: Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
Mark 7:20-23- He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
You don't have an addiction problem. Stop putting all your focus on the substance your abusing or the feelings of shame, guilt ,pride ,regret, and so much more. The steps along with Scripture teach you that your heart is the problem and it must be fixed and seeking comfort in chemical substances never works just increases and intensifies your troubles in life. There is no chemical solution to a Spiritual problem .Step four. if worked sincerely and honestly will develop humility! Being humble brings healing to a broken heart ! Fixing your Heart will free your mind of all your troubles removing all reason to escape your self made prison of pain, depression ,fear, guilt, anxiety, pride ,denial ,and addiction.
James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
