As trusted Mental Health experts in the San Antonio community, we are aware of the Mental Health consequences of COVID-19 and the need for prevention and early intervention.
Large scale disasters such as The World Trade Center, Hurricane Katrina, and the most recent devastation of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, have greatly impacted people’s mental health with some symptoms presenting immediately and others persisting over time.
The outbreak of COVID-19 is stressful for people, and it is critical for prevention efforts to limit increases in depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, domestic violence, child abuse, and substance abuse, some of which we are already experiencing within our community. This is especially exacerbated for those that have received a positive diagnosis, have had to be hospitalized, or are quarantined fearfully awaiting test results.
At Laurel Ridge Treatment Center, we are dedicated to our mission of Saving Lives, Healing Families, and Creating Hope and we are committed to ensuring that we take every effort to stand with the San Antonio community during this trying time. In that effort, we are honored to offer a no-cost COVID-19 virtual support group to anyone who has been personally impacted by a COVID-19 diagnosis or are currently quarantined pending test results.
