Ask Your Representative to Oppose the Commercialization and Mass Marketing of Marijuana
FacebookLinkedInTwitter
The House of Representatives is expected to vote this month on the Marijuana Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act (H.R. 3884). While this legislation is being promoted as a social justice bill, as drafted it would fully legalize and commercialize marijuana.

NAADAC does not currently support the use of marijuana as medicine or for recreational purposes. NAADAC recently joined a group of addiction stakeholders sending a letter to House leaders opposing the MORE Act.

Contact your Member of Congress TODAY and urge them to oppose legislation legalizing marijuana! Click here to find your U.S. Representative or call the U.S. Capitol directly at 202-224-3121.

What You Need to Say: Let your Representative know you are an addiction professional in their district and ask them to oppose the MORE Act (H.R. 3884). Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug in the United States. Addiction professionals are in the unique position to be able to recognize, diagnose, mitigate, and treat the detrimental effects of cannabis use.

Remember to provide your contact information to your Representative and ask them to follow up with any questions!

SAMHSA Released the 2019 NSDUH Annual National Report
FacebookLinkedInTwitter
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has released the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) Annual National Report. This report focuses on substance use and mental health in the United States based on NSDUH data from 2019 and earlier years.

The 2019 NSDUH demonstrates that substance misuse and mental illness continue to be major problems for Americans, and they demand continued attention and focus across all communities. The data also reflects impressive progress on the nation’s opioid crisis. Read the 2019 Key Substance Use and Mental Health Indicators report to review the key findings from the 2019 NSDUH.

Click here to watch a video presentation of the Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use, Dr. Elinore F. McCance-Katz, MD, PhD, discussing the NSDUH data findings.
