Advocacy Alert: Patients and Communities Act
|
Congress is poised to pass meaningful legislation to address the nation’s opioid crisis. In recent months, NAADAC used its voice with lawmakers to help shape this bill.
We’re pleased to report that the final agreement includes key provisions that would:
- Incentivize individuals to pursue substance use disorder treatment professions by offering student loan relief;
- Protect against the erosion of privacy rights of individuals with substance use disorders; and
- Remove the IMD exclusion for all substance use disorder treatment and allow Medicaid payment for eligible individuals for up to 30 days annually.
Passage of the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act (H.Res. 1099) last week in the House of Representatives brings us one step closer to securing these important new tools and resources for expanding treatment and recovery services. We expect the Senate to consider the bill very soon and ask you to contact your Senators and urge a YES vote on the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act.
