Individuals who are in recovery from tobacco use can share their testimonials in the PRO-ACT Village the day of the Walk! More details to follow.

Facts about Quitting Smoking & Substance Use Disorders

Considerable research indicates that tobacco dependence treatment does not interfere with patients’ recovery from the abuse of other substances.

Quitting smoking has a positive effect on substance use treatment outcomes.

Individuals with substance use disorder who were provided tobacco dependence treatment during addictions treatment was associated with a 25% increased likelihood of long-term abstinence from alcohol and illicit drugs.

Tobacco use treatment, including the use of pharmacotherapy and counseling, is effective for treating tobacco users who are receiving treatment for chemical dependency.

Tobacco users are more than twice likely to quit for good when they quit with the help of stop smoking medications and extra coaching and support.
