| Overview: The COVID-19 pandemic has both revealed and exacerbated this inequity. With the confluence of multiple public health crises and tragedies this year, many people are turning to substance use to manage stress, and more than ever need treatment services. The treatment providers themselves are tired, worn out, and trying to continue offering life-saving care in the midst of their own trauma exposure. |
In this presentation we will: - Examine the impact of COVID-19 and other recent crises on health, substance use, and health care providers.
- Discuss the role of systemic racism in sustaining disparities in healthcare including addiction treatment
- Identify ways in which we can implement systemic change to help more people get the care they need, and support the people who provide the care.
