What if you could help other families heal?

What if you could help other families heal as you heal through your own tragedy?
David Huntly family
We knew our son Henry was an outgoing, smart and funny 19-year-old kid. What we didn’t know was that he was struggling with both substance use and mental health issues. After being in and out of treatment, the worst possible thing that can happen to a parent happened to us. We lost Henry.

After Henry’s death, I looked for ways to keep his memory alive and ensure that other parents knew about the missing link of peer support — the link that my wife and I didn’t have when dealing with his addiction. That’s when I found the Parent Coaching program at Center on Addiction and Partnership for Drug-Free Kids.

As a Parent Coach, I am paired with others seeking help for their loved one struggling with substances. We provide a safe place where parents can talk with someone who has been in their shoes. Just having somebody to listen to your story and know what you’re talking about is incredibly powerful.

Join me and help ensure that Center on Addiction | Partnership for Drug-Free Kids can continue to empower families with free information, science-based resources, actionable support and free one-on-one guidance through programs like Parent Coaching.

The urgent need for even more family-focused resources means that your gift, of any amount, can help save a life. A donation of just $50 provides over an hour of one-on-one parent coaching for a parent needing assistance.

When I see a parent I am coaching actually change their behavior, enact a new strategy or a new tool we’ve discussed with their child, or something improves positively with their relationship, that’s just like a salve to my heart. Because then it’s a story of hope, and not one of tragedy.

Thank you for uniting with us as Center on Addiction | Partnership for Drug-Free Kids works to transform the way our nation addresses addiction.

Sincerely,

David Huntly Signature

What your hiding in your Heart will come out your mouth!

May 29, 2019 TRANSFORMATION THROUGH SPIRITUAL TRUTH FROM SCRIPTURE AND THE TWELVE STEPS TODAY STEP 10

Step 10: Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

Jeremiah 17 :9-10 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”

Whatever your hiding in your heart will find its way out of your mouth. let me explain !If your heart is full undealt with pain then you will blame yourself for getting hurt ,telling yourself your no good and dumb and you deserve what you get. Not True ! We will also internalize what people label us and if there screwed up like parents who are dysfunctional immature children trapped in adult bodies we will believe whatever they tell us because they are our parents. The cycle of negative labeling and verbal abuse will continue until someone decides, I am not living this way anymore ! Only God can heal and fix a diseased addicted heart. Once He fixes the heart he can transform and renew our minds. Stop talking bad about yourself and take God at His word !

By Joseph Dickerson/Recovery Connections Network Psalm 103 v 3- He forgives all my sins and Heals all my diseases!
Jesus Christ has already won your war with addiction you just got to believe it!
