The Dire Need For Empathy | The Fix

The Dire Need For Empathy | The Fix: I remember a couple of years ago when the middle-aged locals of my town created some nostalgic page on Facebook—you know the type—this was me in front of that deli that’s now a T-shirt shop, oh there’s Patti twenty-five years ago. It’s a common enough occurrence. On this page, someone posted a photograph of me and my girlfriend at the time and I wasn’t terribly thrilled about it.

From WFS: 2020 Conference Location

WFS is on the move!
New Experiences + New Growth = New Life
We are happy to announce that our WFS Annual Weekend Conference will be hitting the road next year!

We have secured conference space at beautiful Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, for our 2020 event. We chose this location because we have 5 weekly WFS meetings in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area who have graciously agreed to help with the event. Dates are June 12th through 14th, with pre-conference activities starting Thursday, June 11th. See below for more information about the venue!

We hope that you will join us as we say goodbye to our long-term venue, DeSales University, at this year's event. WFS Annual Weekend Conference 2019 will be held in Center Valley, PA, on June 6-9, 2019. Registration is open until May 19th (special late registration period through June 2nd - 10% late registration fee applies). With the new Conference Planning Workgroup teaming up to expand the event offerings, we hope that it will be the best conference yet! Read all about the exciting plans here.

Hamline University
Minnesota's first university, Hamline University has been in operation since 1854. The beautiful campus is in an urban residential neighborhood just a 20-minute drive from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, or about 45 minutes by public transportation. There are a few shops and restaurants within walking distance.

The Anderson Center features conference rooms, breakout spaces, a cafeteria, and a Starbucks. Guests will have the option of staying in one of the residential halls or an on-campus apartment. With comparable costs, we anticipate that we will be able to provide the same great all-inclusive experience for similar Registration Fees as previous years.
Want WFS to come to your city?
We are already on the lookout for a venue for 2021. Our goal is to move the conference each year, rotating around the US to make the event more accessible to our geographically-diverse guests. Venues for conferences of our size are typically booked out 2-3 years in advance, making early planning essential.

We are especially interested in cities where a strong WFS community exists to help with preparations and activities. If you and the other 4C women in your area can support WFS coming to your city, please let us know by emailing admin@womenforsobriety.org!
