The truth is, is we are never as safe as we think.

The truth is, is we are never as safe as we think.

It's always terrifying and humbling to hear about friends or mentors relapsing after achieving multiple years of recovery. Addiction is a tricky foe, it has a way of sneaking up behind us when we are vulnerable.

Everyone (including myself) slacks off on their recovery from time to time. We get comfortable and we think to ourselves "I got this."

I have seen many reasons for this...
  • Some of us no longer enjoy going to meetings, so we stop.
  • Some of us can't afford weekly therapy sessions, so we stop.
  • Some of us lose friends or move and lose our support system.
We can help! There's no need to white knuckle it. Let's take action!

For the past 3 months, we have been quietly working on a 30 Day E-mail course that will Reboot Your Recovery.

This course is designed for everyone. If you have 30 days or 30 years, you will gain perspective, insight and daily exercises that will give your recovery a jump start.

I could go on and on about how amazing our course is, but I would rather show you. The course is a small $24 charge, less than you pay for Starbucks every week.

Except in this case, you can keep what you've learned and be able to apply it to a lifetime of recovery and life experience.

If you are feeling down, if you are feeling stagnant or if you are just interested in continuing to grow, this course is for you!
Take Charge and Start the Course
P.S. - If you have any questions about what this entails, feel free to reply to this email. We only want to be of service. Here's the link on last time.

Much love,

Tim Stoddart

Prevention: The Holy Grail in Keeping Drugs Out of Our Homes

Prevention: The Holy Grail in Keeping Drugs Out of Our Homes: Our country is clearly struggling with a harsh drug addiction epidemic. From President Trump’s official declaration of a National Public Health Emergency in October 2017 to the constant CDC reports of highest-ever overdose death rates each year, we can be certain that the drug problem is growing.

Sober New Year’s Parties and Resolutions? Not a Fan…

Sober New Year’s Parties and Resolutions? Not a Fan…

By Nicola Lee, Saturday, December 29, 2018 8:42 AM
I am not a fan of New Year’s Eve parties and nights out. I find all that hugging and Happy New Year chanting a bit much and incredibly uncomfortable. In my active drinking days, I would rarely remember midnight as I almost always blacked-out – either awake or asleep.   What I do love […]

Proverb 14 v 14 TWELVE STEPPING WITH POWER IN THE PROVERB

Proverb 14 v 14 TWELVE STEPPING WITH POWER IN THE PROVERB

Backsliders get what they deserve;
good people receive their reward.

STEP 3. I will make a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of God.

The Proverb is right too the point , no sugar coating here . When we hand it over and give it to God we cant keep taking it back . I struggle with this but as I get older , I am getting better at getting out of Gods way. There were plenty of times I let pride convince me , I don't need God ! I can handle this , wrong right back on my face is where I landed again and again as long as I had control . The excuses , too be honest I wrote the book on excuses and I was the king of the blame game. It was what you did or said that made me go out and use . Bullspit , it was me and my foolish pride trying too make you pay for my mistakes. Sitting here writing this is really bringing it home , I was such a fool to think if we commit step three and let go that I can keep taking it back over and over again. I gave it too God because I had no idea on how to live my life as a human , I was too busy running around loose like a wild animal .

Matthew chapter 10 v 38 - Those who do not take up their cross and follow in my STEPS are not fit to be my disciples .

Partnership for Drug-Free Kids
'Addiction is such a daunting, frightening disease, and parents are part of the process, and they're part of the healing, and they're part of the solution' -Parent Coach
Dear Joseph,

Right now, millions of families need support and hope. I know this because we talk with them every day. They’re hopeless and too afraid to talk to even their closest friends because of the stigma that surrounds substance use.
MATCH MY GIFT

No family should have to struggle with their loved one’s substance use disorder alone. That’s why the Partnership provides families with one-on-one support through our Parent Helpline and Parent Coaching program. Parent Support Specialists and our trained volunteer Parent Coaches are here with the knowledge and compassion families need.

Your tax-deductible gift will do so much for families. Plus, your support will be doubled by our Board of Directors if given before December 31. Your donation of $25 will become $50; $50 will become $100 and so on. Help us connect with even more families, empowering them with the tools and guidance they need to feel less alone and know that families can heal.

Please take advantage of this special matching gift opportunity. Make your donation today.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Mustacchio Signature

We hope all of you had a very blessed Christmas and wish you the happiest of New Year’s. As
2018 comes to a close, we wanted to thank every single one of you for providing hope and
showing the love of God to the women and children here at The Lovelady Center.
This year, over 180,000 nights of safe lodging were provided to women and children who would
have had no other place to go. Our kitchen prepared and served over 500,000 meals feeding
them while they were here, and as part of their program, we provided over 5,000 hours of
Christian counseling, as well as hours of life skills classes and job readiness preparation. Ten
women earned their GED and one earned her High School Diploma while in the program. Most
exciting of all, over 200 women professed their faith in Christ and were baptized during our
church services. All of this and much more was made possible by your support through the gift
of your time, your prayers and your resources.
As we look forward to 2019, we are excited for all that we believe God has in store, but we are
most thankful for each of you whose hearts have been open to His leading to serve these
women and children in such a meaningful way.
Our prayer is that God will richly bless each of you in this coming year.

'Two years ago today I walked through the doors of The Lovelady Center. I was broken. I prayed for God to bring me out of the life I had lived for so long. I had lost so much and was ready for a change. Two years later my life is not perfect BUT it's better than I could have ever imagined. I have so much to be grateful for and today just like every other day I thank God for saving me.' -Brittany, December 28, 2018

7 Reasons Not to Bring Your 12-Step Program Home for the Holidays | The Fix

7 Reasons Not to Bring Your 12-Step Program Home for the Holidays | The Fix: Shouldn’t you help your sister address her character defects? Isn’t it time to take your father’s inventory? And wouldn’t it be perfect to make amends to your mom at a family dinner?

The Empty Chair Campaign Highlights Loss and Sorrow Caused by the Drug War | The Fix

The Empty Chair Campaign Highlights Loss and Sorrow Caused by the Drug War | The Fix: The families of people incarcerated, distanced, or deceased because of the drug war live year-round with the unique suffering of loving someone whose pain you do not have the power to heal. During the holidays, that loss rises to the surface.

Christmas, Booze, and the Brain | The Fix

Christmas, Booze, and the Brain | The Fix: I have seen a lot of recovery-themed blog posts around about the particular challenges facing us addicts at this time of year and have thought about writing something, however I have hesitated so far because there’s already a lot of excellent posts about how to cope etc, and I’m not sure I have much to add. So I’ll just tell you about my experience.

Food Fight | The Fix

Food Fight | The Fix: I recovered from heroin addiction in the early 1970s.  I used for 3 years as a teenager, went into residential treatment in NY for 18 months, and 'graduated' the program in the summer of '73.  I've spent the last 46 years in successful remission with zero relapses.  In my opinion, I was lucky to live in a program run by GREAT people, in an unconventional (by today's standards) treatment environment that ceased to exist long ago.  I was also lucky that public funding was readily available back then, and insurance had nothing to do with the equation.  If you needed an
