NIDA for Teens: Advancing Addiction Science

Maximize Your Teen's Out of School Time

As communities across the United States practice social distancing, the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) recognizes that these times may be challenging for families. If you are looking for free, educational activities to keep your teen busy while at home, check out the Toolkit for Out of School Time.

The toolkit offers science-based activities and resources on drug use and addiction designed to educate teens through engaging activities outside of the classroom. The activities inspire learning and empower teens with the information they need to make informed decisions about drug use and their health.

🍎 Guest Q&A: Relationships, Boundaries & Trauma.

Oftentimes in addiction, our relationships became strained. However, when we get sober, cycles of trauma we may have experienced can impact them, whether we recognize it or not. Though, to fully repair these relationships, we must heal our past hurts and trauma.
Join us with guest Therapist, Tempany Andersen. Tempany has over 13 years of experience providing therapy, working with both men and women ranging from teenagers through adulthood. She is a Certified Addictions Professional, Certified Sex Therapist and trained in EMDR. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Arizona State University, holds a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida.
In this webinar, you'll hear:
  • - Ways that unresolved trauma can impact your relationships.

  • - Ways to set effective boundaries with loved ones and family members surrounding addiction and recovery.

  • - Ways that you can begin to heal from trauma and repair relationships.
This event will take place on Tuesday, March 24th at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
This event is available to those who are members of Sobriety Engine or register now.

Fwd: Need RSVP - Annual AV Luncheon/ Fundraiser

Hello Everyone,

Here's the Status of our Luncheon:
Scheduled for (Sat. April 18th):  Please RSVP by Sun. April 5th
I spoke to the Restaurant last week and we are remaining hopeful that things will turn around with the pandemic situation so that they'll still be able to host the event - it's 25-days away from today - please read Adelphia's Statement below.
Let's keep praying for God's sovereign intervention with our Nation, we plan on making a final decision on Mon. April 6th; I'll let you know if the restaurant cancels before then, or if the AV Board of Directors decides to reschedule the event for precautionary reasons.

Adelphia Statement:
We are doing our part to responsibly mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus. It is of utmost importance for us to keep our patrons and staff safe. We want to reassure our customers that we have doubled our efforts to sanitize and develop protocols consistent with the recommendations of health organizations.
We have implemented thorough cleaning and sanitizing protocols for the dining room, nightclub and banquet facilities including all surfaces, checkout registers, door knobs, etc. We have stocked up on gloves for the staff to use during various tasks. Any staff member showing symptoms is encouraged to stay home. Signs displaying tips for proper hand washing have been posted. These are just a few of the many steps we are taking to keep our patrons and staff safe. We are closely monitoring suggestions from the CDC and will take all necessary steps to help reduce the spread of this virus.
Bill and Evelyn Balis want all of our guests to feel comfortable when visiting Adelphia. We are actively addressing this ongoing situation. Please reach out to us if you have any concerns.
Thank you!
