SPECIAL GOOGLE ALERT - Sept. 15
Google Sets Limits on Addiction Treatment Ads, Citing Safety
September 14, 2017 - As drug addiction soars in the United States, a booming business of rehab centers has sprung up to treat the problem. And when drug addicts and their families search for help, they often turn to Google.
But prosecutors and health advocates have warned that many online searches are leading addicts to click on ads for rehab centers that are unfit to help them or, in some cases, endangering their lives.
ETHICS - What a Concept
...treatment providers and professionals are responsible for the opioid epidemic?
September 11, 2017 - By Heather R. Hayes, M.Ed., LPC, CAI, CIP & Louise Stanger, Ed.D., LCSW, CDWF, CIP - In the wake of the addiction treatment industry’s lowest moment and the opiate epidemic’s highest surge, we need to take a deeper look at what got us here and why the industry itself is very much to blame. The investigation begins and ends with ethics.
Interview with Editor
Lakeworth, FL -
INTERVIEW with Leonard Buschel
Q: Tell me about yourself and what you do and how you got involved in the frontlines of the heroin epidemic.
BUSCHEL: My name is Leonard Buschel. I am the founder of the REEL Recovery Film Festival & Symposium, which is a film festival that travels around the country. It’s the longest recovery event in the country. Seven days in New York City. Seven days in Los Angeles. We also have a three-day festival in Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Denver, Richmond, Virginia, and we are expanding across the country. This’ll be our ninth year in Los Angeles and our sixth year in New York. And I have nothing to do with the heroin epidemic.

Q: What are your thoughts on the heroin epidemic?
BUSCHEL: I don’t know if it’s an epidemic. According to the dictionary, it’s not. The definition of “epidemic” is not something that people do to themselves. It’s a disease that spreads from one person to another through contact. So I wouldn’t call it an epidemic. That’s a misnomer. It is a crisis. It is a national disgrace. It is a profound sickness in America that so many people are in so much pain that they’d rather die than face reality on a daily basis. That’s a tragedy. I mean I think it goes hand-in-hand with the downfall of ... the American Dream is now finally over.

9-15-17 TWELVE STEPPING WITH SUPPORT FROM SCRIPTURE

PSALM 119v25 I lie in the dust; revive me by your word.

STEP 1 We admitted we were powerless over alcohol - that our lives had become unmanageable.

revive-to come or bring something back to life, health, existence: to activate, set in motion, or take up again; renew:

In the dust is about as low as someone can get.Getting down there was not the problem finding the strength to get back on your feet is another thing.I have been down there broken beyond all repair dreading every minute of every day! Meaningless was my life lost desperate and without any sense of purpose.Twisted loveless comatose to the beauty that was around me. Addiction dulled my senses so much I lost not only life but my sight became narrow. So narrowed that the world around me became non-existent including my loved ones. I needed to be brought back from the dead! Like a Flat lined Heart patient, I needed to be resuscitated and revived. One day I gave up in the only way that's good! I gave my life to Jesus and said if your real save me. He heard me and He did just that! There is a power beyond measure in Faith and belief in God and His Son Jesus Christ. Now in your desperation and the little bit of strength being sent from above, learn about them believe in them, take all that you have to give it to them and you will be revived.
