Plenary Highlight: Monday, Jan. 30
Reimbursement Models Past, Present and Future: Surviving Change, Improving Outcomes and Maintaining Integrity
Mike Harle, MHS

Do we really know our costs? What is pay for performance or value based incentive/payment? Do we oversell treatment while we under perform? Can we show cost benefit and value in our services? Is our care integrated with physical health, behavioral health, housing, jobs and recovery support? How should we cost our services. Should we warrant our services?

Join Mr. Harle on Monday, January 30 as he answers these questions and sheds light on other challenges facing our industry. He will be addressing the top three issues AXIS attendees have vocalized are of most concern: changes in reimbursement and insurance; ethics, declining industry standards, and marketing; and lastly outcomes and overall quality.

This presentation will highlight lessons learned from a large publicly/privately funded non-profit organization. It will emphasize a process moving from program funding, private pay and fee-for-service models to performance/outcome-based reimbursement models. We will explore the possibility of population based cost benefit models in an environment driven by the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Parity act, Federal, State insurance law, and healthcare integration during a major opioid epidemic.

Michael Harle is the President & CEO of Gaudenzia , Inc., one of the largest freestanding chemical dependency and mental health treatment and prevention systems serving Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. Read more about Mr. Harle and the other keynote faculty.

My personal goal is to always learn and grow in professional efficacy so that I can better help my clients and their families, with ethics, skills and ease. I look forward to continuing to train and work with you all, again, thank you for you passion."

"The IRI Certified Recovery Specialist, Level 1 Training recently given in Long Beach, California was informative, insightful, creatively delivered, thought provoking and altogether enjoyable. As a viable component of addiction treatment the curriculum focuses on, where have come from historically, challenges our current knowledge and methodologies but, most importantly the direction we are going towards legitimacy and valorization. As a seasoned professional in the field of 15 years, we are long overdue for an ethical industry standard of this caliber to be set and available to those of us with vast experience or newly entering the field. Empowering us to approach this profession with confidence in a continuum of care that would be an asset to any client and or clinical team at any level of treatment. The balance of history, theory, cooperation, definition, practicality, legalities, ethical behaviors and self regulation within this curriculum was seamlessly melded together through our instructors vast experiential knowledge. After completing the Level 1 Training, it is my opinion that anyone interested in, working as, working with or simply understanding the valuable resource of a Recovery Specialist can benefit from the training offered by IRI. With that, a fond thank you for the time, energy and forward thinking required to compile such an educational body of work. Truly I am looking forward to enrolling in the Advanced Levels and Specialties education to come."
- Robert G Wells, Recovery Specialist
Developed by
Dr. Judith Landau and Nanette Zumwalt, this course has quickly become recognized as a remarkable certificate training for any individual working one-to-one with client's and their families in program settings as well.
“A MUST HAVE educational course for individuals working, or interested in the work of, 'Recovery Specialist' e.g. Personal Recovery Assistant, Sober Companion, Sober Coach, etc.”
The instruction delivers detailed and specific information so that each participant may acquire the knowledge to further develop his/her individual skill set and understanding of the importance of professional collaboration, ongoing assessment, emergency action, strength based approaches and goal specific, measurable Recovery Planning with clients and their families.
Recovery Specialists provide a foundation for recovery self-efficacy to be created through improving the relapse response (hijacking effect) within the brain through cognitive apprenticeship, modeling, mentoring, ecological momentary intervention, and inspiring, educating and repeated success. Combining this with cutting edge family theory and a focus on healing and recovery of not only the individual but the family as whole is the basis of the IRI training.

ADDICTION FROM GODS PERSPECTIVE

ADDICTION FROM GODS PERSPECTIVE

Romans 7 v 21 v 22 v 23

So I find this law at work : Although I want to do good , evil is right there with me .
For in my inner being I delight in God's Law ; but I see another law at work in me ,
waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.

RC Joseph Dickerson

Year End Appeal 2016
we did it together
Together we raised over $27,000 this holiday season!

With your support, we are changing the conversation about addiction and saving lives. While we have accomplished a great deal over the past year, there is much more to be done.

This year we will work to:
  • Expand our helpline hours to evenings and weekends to provide help and support to more families
  • Introduce an “Ask a Coach” feature where parents can pose questions to our national network of trained parent coaches
  • Launch a new website in the early spring that will be easier to navigate and more responsive to the needs of families
  • Begin to offer a series of webinars for families on topics related to supporting a teen or young adult child with a substance use disorder
Thanks to your generosity, we will be able to ensure more families have answers and work even harder to reduce substance use disorders in our country.

Thank you again for being our champions!

Sincerely,
