Ed Bisch - Grieving Dad
Kicking Butt and Taking Names
Ed Bisch a Grieving Father Takes on Big Pharma
Ed Bisch’s son, Eddie, died of an overdose of Oxycontin in 2001. Ed didn’t sit by and take it. His initial answer when told of his son’s death was “What the Hell is Oxycontin"?

Ed started researching Oxycontin and it’s manufacturer – Purdue Pharma; AND the family behind it – The Sacklers. Ed has been fighting this Purdue battle for years and doesn’t see giving up until both the company and the family are made to take responsibility for the countless deaths due to Oxycontin addiction and overdose.

Ed is a champion and a fighter. He is also the first interview on the MSNBC special – “The Forgotten Epidemic”.

Reminder: Upcoming Peer Training Opportunities

Upcoming Online Courses, Workshops and Peer Support Groups
Peer Support Worker Training:
Becoming an Exploration Facilitator
It is a comprehensive, interactive and practical training of peer support workers and family peer support workers.

Who can be a peer support worker? Those people with their own experience of living with mental health/addiction issues. But wait, there’s more, we also train Family Peer Support Workers in the training.

Who can do that? A family member of someone living with a mental health/addiction issue.

We have designed the training to maximize your learning through the use of many teaching modalities. We will be using videos, slides, dialogue, interactive exercises and games, and lots of practice to fully equip you to be in communities providing valuable peer support services after this training.

Throughout all training there is a strong emphasis on ensuring the incorporation of:
•  The Peer Support Canada Knowledge Matrix requirements related to peer support delivery,
•  The Mental Health Commission of Canada’s (MHCC) peer support values (as outlined in the Guidelines for the Practice and Training of Peer Supporters),

Treating People like People

Have you ever wondered about how people became homeless, why they don't just get a place to live, a job and stop lounging around the streets? Let's take away the "PC" and just have a frank and open conversation. This workshop is based around sharing the unique perspectives and experiences of those who have been deemed homeless at some point in their journey and will give you the ability to have a greater understanding of the issues and, if you choose to, how you can support people.

💫 Are You Fearful of Being Happy?

What would happen if you stopped carrying the weight of the guilt and shame of your past?

Would you feel happier, self-sabotage less? Would you allow yourself to be joyful with no expectations?

For those who have experienced betrayal, there’s an understanding of what it means to have your joy taken from you in a split second.

When you allow yourself to feel joy, the aftereffects of these events create a foreboding sense of unease, irritation, unworthiness, and anger out of fear the other shoe is going to drop or something bad may happen.

Listen to this week's Recovery Coaching call.

Later, facing numerous traumatic incidents, Shannon turned to drinking and using substances. After being invited by a friend to a 12-step meeting, Shannon found solace in others who had walked similar paths as hers.
