The complexity of shame can often dictate the direction our lives will take. Although part of the spectrum of emotions given to us by the Lord, shame can be the driving force to a persons’ self-destruction. For Wes, the weight of deep-rooted shame led him to His Mansion in 2019, even after becoming sober, accepting Christ, and living and working in full time ministry.
One can find his identity in Christ, but still feel the need to hide his true self in God's presence. "I was living in fear and feeling unworthy of love and connection." Yet, connection was Wes' greatest need.
