There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:4 I am no stranger to the hardships of grief and loss. This is the story of how God met me in my pain, led me out of shame and into the fullness of joy in Him. I was born in New Hampshire and grew up near the White Mountains. My parents were both believers, but divorced when I was just seven years old. From then until I left home at eighteen I would split time between two households, one week at my mother's, one week at my father's. I was the youngest, and at times I felt lost in the shuffle, and overlooked. Consequently I had freedom to do pretty much whatever I liked, and began to party. I was in my early twenties when I got pregnant. I was young, and had been taught from an early age the importance of making a living and having a career. Because I had been helping to raise my niece over the past several years I also understood the kind of hard work it took to raise a child. I wasn't ready to be a mother and I had been deceived by what our society deems acceptable. If you have a heart and head full of junk your life will be cluttered. The good God wants to put into your heart and head wont fit. This is why Step four is so important ! That junk your full of is impacting your life and it could be the number one reason you self medicate. If we recognize and expose the stuff that keeps us awake at night it will lose its power over you. Freeing you to live a life of peace and joy! Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

May 30, 2019 Changing Minds: Implementing Harm Reduction Wednesday, June 12, 2019 @ 3:00-4:00pm ET (2 CT/1 MT/12 PT) Description: This webinar will focus on the impact of staff training to change staff attitudes regarding harm reduction interventions. The training will outline a process undertaken at The Bridge of Central MA from 2016-2017 which used the Learning Collaborative model to plan and execute trainings in harm reduction. The presentation will review the tracking of process and outcomes using the Harm Reduction Acceptability Scale (HRAS), and recommendations for implementing similar training packages in a variety of settings. Presenter: Suzy Langevin, MSW, LICSW, Pending LADC I Suzy Langevin, MSW, LICSW, Pending LADC I, oversees the provision of integrated services for mental health & substance use disorders as the Director of Dual Diagnosis Services at Open Sky Community Services. Utilizing the research of Brené Brown, Kristin Neff, and Tim Desmond, this workshop will discuss components and functions of shame and self-compassion from a scientific and philosophical framework and provide resources for specific tools for utilizing self-compassion in the therapy room. Presenter: Sarah Buino, LCSW, CADC, CDWF Sarah Buino, LCSW, CADC, CDWF, is the founder of Head/Heart Therapy, Inc. and an adjunct faculty member at Loyola University. She holds a Master’s degree from Loyola University in Chicago and specializes in shame and substance use disorders.
