Next Week is National Prevention Week!
FacebookLinkedInTwitter

NAADAC is excited to partner with the Substance and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for the 2018 National Prevention Week (NPW) taking place from May 13-19, 2018.

Everyone can take part in NPW by planning events around one or all of the NPW topics. To do so, submit your event details on the NPW Community Events page to share your NPW event with others.

Another way to get involved is by joining the National Prevention Week movement on social media by participating in this year's NPW Prevention Challenge, Dear Future Me. Here's how to participate:
  1. Write a letter or draw a picture about the choices you’re making to live a healthy, happy life.
  2. Take a picture of your letter or record a video of yourself reading your letter.
  3. Share it on social media using the hashtag #DearFutureMe and #NPW2018.
  4. Tag a few friends so they can participate and add their Dear Future Me letter to the NPW conversation.
  5. Share any or all of the Dear Future Me videos on social media to encourage others to participate as well.
The NPW 2018 theme is “Action Today. Healthier Tomorrow.” This theme reminds us that simple, daily acts of prevention, like helping a friend make positive choices or supporting a family member in need, can lead to healthier lives for each of us today, and stronger, happier communities tomorrow.

5-8-18 Twelve Stepping with Support from Scripture

Psalm 55 v 18 - he ransoms me and keeps me safe from the battle waged against me,though many still oppose me. (GODS BIG BOOK)

ransom-a sum of money or other payment demanded or paid for the release of a prisoner.

oppose-disapprove of and attempt to prevent, especially by argument.

battle- fight or struggle tenaciously to achieve or resist something.

Step 3 - Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God.

In the spiritual realm of this world, the second word in the verse (ransom) reveals the fact, you are a prisoner in the physical world living under the sentence of death.Whether you realize or believe it does not change the fact that this is a very true statement. One way of knowing is that emptiness we all have inside that constant nagging of where do I fit in and no matter what I do I just dont have peace or happiness. Most prisoners are living way below their God given potential because they have lost all self control in resisting the enemy and denying that natural tendency for doing the wrong thing.Everyone has heard the story of Adam and Eve.We had it all, a perfect relationship with God our spiritual ,father. In the garden there was no pain, sorrow, addiction, fear insecurity, starvation, depression, murder, deceit, and the list goes on. Eve was tricked and so was Adam ! They made a bad choice and listened to our Spiritual enemy , doing this they committed disobedience and were removed from the garden and wound up here in the world spiritual prisoners subject to satans horrors !God so loved us and this world that He wanted to free us from this spiritual imprisonment. In order for our release to happen Jesus Gods only Son had to come into this world like we did live a life with out sin and die a criminals death on the cross to pay a ransom to satan for our release.Do not be fooled ! The verse is true a battle is waged and if you lose the Spiritual battle here on earth then you lose it all in the life to come.Vices of this world such as addictions are a ploy created by satan to keep you focused on the wrong things. So he can rob, kill and destroy you.My life without God was
 empty,void,hopeless,broken,diseased,confused,insecure,angry,prideful,
destructive.obssessed and the list goes on. My life with God as many others ! Difficult but joyful,Secure ,unafraid, certain about the future, ready to receive a blessing always, no longer dependent on the world, people, or its vices.Freedom in every sense of the word.
