Readers also shared an appreciation of a sober, better life: i can completely concur with you on "love." when i got sober in a really nice rehab (kinda vacation spa, but they still knew what they were doing), i remember the first few days talking to the therapist and saying: "i think, i've lost the ability to love. i, i, don't care about anyone anymore." all said with a flat blunt effect and absolutely dead looking eyes. on my last day, i was expected to give a speech, and i remember saying to my fellow patients: "thanks, guys, you taught me how to love again. . ."
