  CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY MONTH
As we celebrate Black History Month, it is important to acknowledge that highlighting Black lives and Black achievements  is a year round celebration.

Click to read this year's Root 100 list for 2020.

As described by The Root:

The Root 100 is our annual list of the most influential African Americans, ages 25 to 45. It’s our way of honoring the innovators, the leaders, the public figures and the game changers whose work from the past year is breaking down barriers and paving the way for the next generation. This year’s list of honorees is a reminder of the beauty and brilliance of Blackness, at a time when the political and cultural landscape has grown even more hostile to the idea of Black achievement.

BTC COVID Updates

We continue to operate mostly remotely, with some of our 24 hour, on-site programs requiring in person supports as well as certain daily needs for participants in our less intensive programs.  Our staff became eligible for the vaccination with Phase 1A and our health care provider, Kaiser Permanente has made it possible for many of our staff to get fully vaccinated already.

We are so proud of all of the work our teams continue to do.  BTC services will remain remote as much as possible until we can ensure that our participants are also safe and healthy in our office spaces.

Think Marijuana is Safe?
Think Again Says Laura Stack
Laura Stack A Mom against Marijuana
Laura Stack, MBA, CSP, CPAE is an award-winning keynote speaker and trainer, bestselling author, and noted authority on personal productivity and team performance. When her 19 year old son died from suicide after being addicted to marijuana for years, she became an activist and founder of “Johnny’s Ambassadors“. Johnny’s Ambassadors educates parent and teens about the risks of today’s high-THC marijuana.

“I want you to know you were right. You told me marijuana would hurt my brain. It’s ruined my mind and my life, and I’m sorry. I love you. ” — Johnny Stack to his mother, 3 days before he died by suicide.

From Laura: “Johnny Stack was born on February 7, 2000 and died by suicide on November 20, 2019 at the age of 19. He had a happy life, a 4.0 GPA with a scholarship to college, and a family who loved him very much. Unfortunately, we live in Colorado, which was the first state to legalize recreational marijuana in 2012, when Johnny was 12 years old….”
