“Helping is the only thing that makes me feel better”

"Helping is the only thing
that makes me feel better"

Melissa Flynn’s stepson, Nicholas, died from an opioid overdose in May 2018. Since then, she’s made it her mission to provide hope and resources, and let other loved ones know they’re not alone.

“I feel like I have an obligation to share what I have been through,” she said. “We’re losing so many people to addiction, and I just feel like this has to stop.”

Coaching data snapshot

There's nothing more important than knowing we're helping people improve their lives.

Building a coaching community

Why do we call the individuals we coach "members" and not "clients," "customers" or something else? That word – member – was an intentional choice. By definition, a member is someone who is part of a group, part of something bigger – part of a greater whole.

 Peer coach

Q: How do I deal with my loved one's bad behaviors? (lying, manipulating, etc.)

A: First, it's important to remember those frustrating behaviors are common symptoms of the disease of addiction. They tell us that the person is very sick. This doesn't mean you should excuse their behavior entirely; boundaries are essential for loved ones to maintain for their own well-being and safety.

Recovery Tied To The Professional World.

Last week we sat down with Ryan and Dan Smith, creators of Modern Tie and brothers in long-term recovery.

Ryan and Dan have re-invented the tie. What looks like a regular tie, is an innovative invention that has a much deeper meaning than what meets the eye.

From far-fetched dreams and hard work to materialize them, they share the difficulties of maintaining sobriety and owning a business as well as the successes they've achieved by walking through the fear of the unknown.

They also tell me about their visit to the Oscars last month. :)

Watch the interview, here.
