Overdose Awareness Day 2017
Today marks International Overdose Awareness Day, so let’s do our part to prevent more loss and suffering.

The overdose numbers keep climbing. Every day, we lose 144 people to an accidental drug overdose. One place to start to build awareness to reverse this trend is through social media.

We have assembled an easy and downloadable toolkit with sample posts to share. These include posts on the overdose reversal drug, naloxone; one on recognizing the signs of overdose; and others citing statistics that can help drive awareness and action.

It’s terrifying when your son or daughter is using substances. When he or she is using heroin, fentanyl or other opioids, like prescription pain pills, however, the fear is even greater, since these substances pose a much higher risk of fatal overdose. Your first goal is of course to encourage your son or daughter to seek treatment for their drug use. But there are things you can do to help prevent your child from overdosing in the meantime.
