Legislating Treatment in Florida and Regulations and Laws: Taking Action
Tuesday, July 18, 2:00 PM - 5:45 PM

This panel will present experts in regulatory, licensure, civil and criminal areas to address questions and explain the impact of the HB 807 Practices of Substance Abuse Services Providers signed into law by Governor Scott and effective 7/1/17. This panel will explain the changes in the law that impact substance abuse treatment facilities, recovery residences and marketers (in house or independent third party) as well as provide real guidance as to what providers need to do to comply with the new laws. This includes the call center licensure requirements, deceptive marketing practices and new standards for the delivery of clinical services. The discussion will also lead to information about how providers can get involved in the rule making process and advocating for changes to the law.

The follow up panel discussion Regulations and Laws: Taking Action, is designed to inform and engage providers on how to take action with regards to HB 807 and the new laws affecting substance abuse providers. Participants will drive the discussion and can ask direct questions to the expert panelist about criminal, civil and licensure issues. Participants will also be asked to engage or provide commentary, stories, support or other any recommendations to present to the state during the regulation making process. On hand will be representatives currently lobbying in Tallahassee, Florida for the industry who will help answer questions, collect comments and inform providers how to get involved in ensuring the laws effecting substance abuse providers and patients are fair.
