Fwd: Families of 4th graders...you're invited!

Dear parents and guardians of 4th grade students,
#StandUp Neshaminy would like to invite you to a valuable seminar held this Friday evening (March 6) at Carl Sandburg Middle School. We have some great guest speakers that will present information on what is happening in our schools and community regarding pre-teen and teenage use of addictive substances, including vaping, THC, alcohol and opioids.
This program was primarily targeted for families of 5th and 6th grade students, but we are extending the invitation since the information will also be very relevant to you as your child prepares to make the move up to middle school next year. A movie night for students will be held at the same time if you would like to bring your school-age children along. Both events are free -- please see the information below and RSVP online to attend.
Thank you and we hope to see you Friday!

You and your children are invited!
#StandUp Neshaminy presents
Movie Night & Parent Seminar
Friday, March 6, 2020, 6:30 pm - 9 pm
Carl Sandburg Middle School (30 Harmony Road in Levittown)
For Parents & Guardians
Behind Closed Doors trailer
You are invited to attend a very important seminar geared for parents of pre-teenagers. You will learn about what is happening in our schools and community with tobacco use, vaping, alcohol, opioids, and other addictive substance abuse among teenagers, and what you can do to keep your kids, their friends and your family strong in the face of rising substance abuse statistics. This event is sponsored by #StandUp Neshaminy, a coalition of Neshaminy educators, counselors, community prevention specialists, law enforcement, and parents.
Scheduled to appear:
  • Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub
  • The Behind Closed Doors mock teenage bedroom trailer tour
  • Family Services Association of Bucks County
  • Council of Southeast Pennsylvania
  • Neshaminy District School Resource Police Officers
Be informed, knowledge is power! You will learn about trends and prevention tips from the experts, and have the opportunity for Q&A at each session. Due to the subject matter, no children will be permitted in the parent / guardian seminar.
For Students
Zootopia movie characters
We will be showing the hit animated movie Zootopia (2016) in the gymnasium at Carl Sandburg MS during the parent seminar. Snacks and beverages will be provided, along with some fun post-movie activities. Neshaminy teachers and support staff will chaperone this event. Students should bring a blanket and pillow(s) to sit on during the movie.
Siblings of attending students who are in grades K-4 are also welcome to watch the movie and join the activities.
This is a FREE event but we do ask that you RSVP at the Sign Up Genius link below:
We hope to see you on March 6!
