February Birthdays Some individuals struggling with addiction and homelessness have never celebrated a birthday or have never celebrated a birthday sober. At Mariners Inn, we like to recognize all of our clients' birthdays and we celebrate on the last Friday of each month with birthday wishes and cake! Happy Birthday, gentlemen! This month our COO Carina Jackson was featured as part of Foot Locker's Black History Now & Next Project! Watch her interview here. Staff Spirit Week Spirit week is a celebration of staff; it is a chance for staff to dress down and enjoy each other in the festivities we have planned throughout the week! It creates camaraderie amongst the staff and is a morale booster. As you can see, we enjoyed ourselves...what a team! Court Connection Mariners Inn's Court Liaison, Larry Gudith, hosted Court Connection, an event aimed at giving clients true insight into the court process. Judge Aliya Sabree (36th District Court, Detroit) and Judge Gregory Clifton (25th District Court, Lincoln Park) visited and talked about how the courts are not working to punish, but working to assist those in recovery with legal issues. Judges Sabree and Clifton openly answered questions (that were asked anonymously or directly) and emphasized the various programs available to clients to positively resolve their pending and outstanding legal issues.
