11-17-17 TWELVE STEPPING WITH SUPPORT FROM SCRIPTURE

Proverb 10 v 19 - Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.

7 We humbly asked Him to remove all our shortcomings.

I am so guilty of this! Keeping my mouth shut is one thing I cannot do! No matter how hard I try my tongue has a small motor that cannot be shut down. Everything coming out of my mouth, for the most part, is negative and destructive. Calling me out for it only makes me spew more venom. Keeping the mouth shut is going to take a lot of work! Go into training and practice a moment of silence before you start the motor. you will be amazed if you just say the word silence too yourself before you respond to others and situations. Pretend your mouth is a cage and your tongue its prisoner! To unlock the cage you need a key and it always takes a few seconds to find the key.I have also discovered that I am not an expert in every field.I am or was the worse know it all on the planet and whether you like it or not, I have all the answers, so much so that I find myself getting on my own nerves.I have recorded myself before and I am so annoying! My words also are deadly weapons I have used too cause harm to get my way.Taming your tongue and keeping quiet is something that has to be worked on every day and with GODS help I will keep it tamed.

Ephesians 4v29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Elizabeth Vargas
Dear Joseph,

We are honored to welcome award-winning ABC News anchor and parent, Elizabeth Vargas, as this year’s Winter Wish Gala emcee. Elizabeth knows firsthand the challenges that addiction poses on a family, and shares her experience in her recent memoir, “Between Breaths: A Memoir of Panic and Addiction.”

“Alcoholism and addiction have touched millions of people in this country. If you don’t suffer from it, you know someone who does. In the face of this disease we are all equal, the playing field leveled. If we are truly fortunate, we have employers who did not abandon us, family who stood by us and perhaps someone who helped us find our way back, who never forgot that beneath all the appalling behavior there was a human being.”

Join us on Tuesday, December 12 to hear more about Elizabeth’s journey and how we are supporting parents with the tools and compassionate guidance they need to help their child struggling with addiction. You can participate by purchasing tickets, table sponsorshipsjournal ads or making a donation.

We are thrilled to honor corporate citizens Facebook and David Katz, Partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz; philanthropists Christine Mack and Natasha Silver Bell; and present the James E. Burke award to Tom McLellan, former deputy director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

We hope we can count on your critical support. Funds raised from the Gala ensure we can continue to provide families with free, lifesaving support, like our Parent Helpline, one-on-one Parent Coaching program and community education presentations.

RSVP Today!

On behalf of the families we serve, thank you for your participation and we look forward to sharing this beloved evening with you!

Sincerely,
Kaila Packett Sassano
