Thats why step one and two are the most important they will bring you out of your altered sense of reality and bring life into perspective. Life is tough and it is not designed for you to go it alone. Your Creator (GOD) did not put you here to do whatever you want and walk , all everyone who loves you. There is a purpose and a meaning to your life but in order to discover it you have to realize your the reason its a mess and if your not willing to change it then you will remain stuck right where you are. Step 6 teaches us defects will be removed ,it doesn't say it will help us deal or cope with these defects .Sometimes these defects become our crutches and defenses so when God removes the defects our calloused hearts will become soft and arrogance will become humility and gratitude.
