Randy and Lydia Grimes - From NFL, to Addiction to Saving Lives Together
Randy Grimes was an NFL player with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He considered taking painkillers to be a “necessary evil” – and part of the job description.

However, he left the NFL addicted to painkillers and spent the next 20 years in the depths of addiction – losing friends and almost his lovely wife – Lydia. But Lydia stood by him throughout that whole time and finally got him into a treatment program that stuck.

Now they are giving back through their non-profit, Pro Athletes in Recovery. Hear this incredible and inspiring story from Randy and the woman who helped to save him.

🌈 When Will Someday Become Today?

This week I asked what one thing you've been meaning to incorporate into your life, but haven't yet. Answer here.

Oftentimes, we get so caught up in the day-to-day stressors and complexities of life, that we push these goals, hopes, and dreams aside and tell ourselves that "someday" we'll get there.

What dreams, desires, feelings, or needs of your own have you pushed aside? If you followed your own dreams and bliss, how would your life change for the better?

You are the driver of your own life, and as you journey through, you have choices about which paths to take. The people you pick up along the way can influence your life, but you still remain in control.

We're not guaranteed tomorrow. What is it going to take to make that "someday" become today?

Enjoy the rest of this week's news at Sobriety Engine.

🔔 Recovery Coaching 016

For many, the joys that come along with being a parent can be equaled out by the stressors and chaos that follow behind. Driven by an innate need to nurture and love, parents can live their lives for others, sacrificing their own hopes and dreams.

However, what if we can’t absorb that unconditional love for ourselves that many give to their children?

🎙️ Recovery Is The New Black

As a wife and working mother of two, Michelle struggled for years with alcohol abuse. She thought drinking wine while volunteering at her kid's school was maybe just "overdoing it" a little.

After multiple visits to the hospital, in-patient rehabs, and run-ins with Child Protective Services, Michelle surrendered to the fact that she couldn't control her drinking.

Ditching the “Addict” Barcode: The LPP way

We've ditched the "Addict" barcode

Business before technology was tedious. Long lines and the grueling task of manually pricing every item caused many shop owners in major cities to barely break even. This problem continued for decades until a man by the name of Joe Woodland revolutionized the market with the invention of the barcode. Woodland’s efficient shortcut not only sped along transactions, but it became the global standard for discovering whether a product sells.

The benefits of applying labels to simplifying purchases are clear, but what about the way humans transact with their environment?
