Sober Challenges – My COVID-19 Move & Job Change

By Nicola Lee, Friday, July 31, 2020 12:33 PM

The last 3 years of sobriety have thrown many challenges at me, but 2020 threw the biggest ones yet. At the start of this year I was unhappy in my job. It was causing me stress and reigniting some of my depressive behaviours. I talked to the bosses within my company, and managed to get […]

🔔 Acceptance Is A Choice

This week, I asked each one of you what your definition of acceptance is. We've heard this word over and over again. It's part of the serenity prayer that most of us are able to say backwards in our sleep.

One of the most important yet difficult parts of acceptance is that it's a choice.

Choosing to let go and accept the past is a process, but it allows us to create a new future for ourselves. Once we can accept, we can transform and use it as a stepping stone to a better life, and owning the life we deserve.

What is one difficult thing you've chosen to accept in your life today?

🔔 Recovery Coaching 014

“I’m going to fail, so why even try?” “I’m not good enough.” “I’ll never be as good as I was years ago.”

We’ve all told ourselves these things. However, if the best predictor of future behavior is our past behavior, how can we begin to break these cycles and stay motivated?

Check out this week's Recovery Coaching Group, here.

🎙️ Clean & Sober Love

Dating in recovery. It can be hard, but when we're sober, we can find we can truly connect with others and find similarities.

After going to treatment and getting sober, Joaquin saw a commercial on TV for a dating app and wondered why there wasn't anything for people in recovery.

He decided to create one himself. Check out this inspiring story, here.

Do you know anyone struggling to cope with an addiction?

If so, you may get a lot of value from the FREE step-by-step guide we’ve created!

We believe that the key to beating addiction is NOT to focus solely on that substance/activity itself, but rather on what life could be like for the non-addicted you.

Our comprehensive guide has helped thousands of people to beat their addiction without rehab. If you know of anyone who this guide may be useful to, please feel free to share it.

Facing uncertainty, together

Facing uncertainty, together

Since March, we've all been living in a new reality. Those impacted by addiction, including loved ones, face additional struggles because of COVID-19.

– Some have discovered they rely on substances much more than they previously thought. This leads to a need for someone to talk to. In particular, someone with a similar lived experience who won't judge or criticize.

– Loved ones are feeling the deep exhaustion that comes with compassion fatigue. Often, they are the primary caregiver of someone struggling with addiction as well as their children, who are now at home.

We've taken intentional steps to address these challenges, including offering free coaching, virtual sessions and flexible payment options.

Q: How do I make sure I'm not enabling  my daughter's drug use?

A: In most cases, the fear of enabling does much more harm than good. There's nothing wrong with loving, caring for and wanting the best for your daughter, whether she uses drugs or not.
