Caron Philadelphia is Currently Closed

Although there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on any of our campuses, out of an abundance of caution and respecting Governor Tom Wolf’s directive for all non-essential businesses in Montgomery County to close, our Philadelphia Regional Recovery Center in Plymouth Meeting is closed. Meetings of support groups offered at this location are on hold until further notice. While the office may be closed, our staff remain accessible and available to provide assistance via email and phone. We expect to resume operations on March 30, 2020 This situation is fluid and may change. We will provide you with additional information about the Plymouth Meeting office as it becomes available. Please note: Caron’s residential campuses remain open, although we are asking visitors to refrain from coming to our campuses. After this weekend, beginning on Monday, March 16, Caron will be suspending visitation to Caron’s Pennsylvania campus until further notice, which includes family visitation and FEP Programming. However, because family involvement is essential to all that we do, we are working on solutions to make sure that families continue to be involved in the care of their loved ones, such as increasing phone and conference calls. Caron’s Pennsylvania and Florida staff are prepared to address any potential cases of COVID-19 should an outbreak occur. Caron has well-established practices, policies, and procedures aimed at preventing the spread of infectious diseases 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Caron’s highly trained and experienced medical staff – including 10 full-time doctors and 50 nurses – are prepared to both recognize warning signs and implement preventative measures to reduce risk.  We are fortunate to have a strong and collaborative relationship with Reading Hospital Tower Health, where all the doctors on my team teach and consult, so we can easily coordinate with experts when a higher-level of acute medical care is needed. In Florida our Medical Department maintains strong relationships with the Delray Medical Center to whom we refer when a higher level of care is needed. Urgent Need | Help Care for Our Guests During COVID-19 Crisis

Dear Joseph, First, we are keeping our doors open to continue to serve those experiencing homelessness in this time of COVID-19! While you are at home our guests have nowhere to turn and are relying upon the Mission now more than ever. We are their safe haven in this time of uncertainty.  Secondly, we are taking all precautions to serve our guests well and safely during this health crisis. This includes increasing our sanitation procedures, providing additional toiletries and essentials, raising awareness of symptoms, and other efforts to minimize their risks. Many of these efforts lead to increased expenses for the Mission. Protecting Caron's Campuses: Coronavirus News and Updates

As the situation surrounding COVID-19 continues to evolve, we wanted to connect with you about how we are addressing these concerns throughout our continuum. The health and safety of our Caron Community is paramount to all that we do; click here to learn about how Caron stays prepared to mitigate risk associated with infectious diseases. Although there are no reports of Coronavirus on our campuses, the staff at Caron is prepared to address any potential cases. We are monitoring the directives and guidelines put forth by the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization, as well as local health officials. Because of our dedication to medical excellence, Caron is already uniquely prepared and positioned to manage the spread of infectious diseases with well-established practices, policies, and procedures. In the unlikely event that an outbreak occurs on one of our campuses, we maintain strong and active relationships with local hospitals and acute care providers, should a patient or staff member require a higher level of care. Caron’s campuses continue to serve the patients and families who need us now more than ever. That being said, we are taking an abundance of caution when it comes to protecting our patients, their families, our alumni and our staff. We are implementing some additional safety precautions for our programs and events. Here are some important updates: PROTECTING CARON'S CAMPUSES & VISITATION RESTRICTIONS Prior to admission to any Caron campus, all potential patients are asked pre-screening questions about recent travel, flu-like symptoms, and their contact with individuals who are confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19. If you have a scheduled visit to our Florida Campus, please connect with your Caron contact to confirm and for more information - a decision will be made about our family program scheduled for April 1 closer to the time. At Caron's Pennsylvania Campus, although visitation for pre-registered and pre-screened guests and families will remain in place for this weekend, beginning on Monday, March 16, we will be suspending visitation until the end of March. This includes scheduled visits and FEP Programming. However, because family involvement is essential to all that we do, we are working on solutions to make sure that families continue to be involved in the care of their loved ones, such as increasing phone and conference calls.  LIMITING CARON'S CHAPEL SERVICES TO CURRENT PATIENTS Many alumni join us for fellowship at Caron’s weekly Sunday Chapel Services. To protect patients currently on campus for treatment, we ask all visitors (including those who had planned to attend to receive their celebration coins) to refrain from attending Chapel until further notice. We know that Chapel is a special and sacred place for many, and we will re-connect with you when the visitation restrictions are lifted. Click here to read the full statement from our Chapel Team. ALUMNI, PARENT, FAMILY & FELLOWSHIP SUPPORT GROUPS Caron is connected to support groups throughout the nation. Some regions are under tighter restrictions than others. We are making decisions about meetings for all groups on an individual basis. When participating in these meetings, we encourage attendees to practice “social distancing” by maintaining 4 ft. of personal space and refraining from shaking hands, hugging and hand-holding. You can expect to hear from your Regional Alumni Coordinator with some updates; he or she can answer any additional questions you may have. REGIONAL AND CORPORATE EVENTS With the safety and well-being of our Caron community in mind, the decision to postpone Caron events will be made on a case-by-case basis. Should an event be postponed, we will notify registrants and update Caron’s website and events registration page with real-time information.
